My recent Cell Phone repair experiences.

Mike Vandordrecht came by to pick it up his repaired 4th iPod Mini
then he asked, "So do you fix cell phones by any chance?" His son had dropped his Sony/Ericsson Walkman 860i (a pricey $300 phone) in water.

My answer was I know quite a bit about electronic devices, have fixed iPods, digiatl cameras, Play Station Portables (PSP), and my own cell phone so I would be prepared try my hand at the water immersed phone.

He left it with the charger and I went to work on it. Over the next two days I boruoght it back to utility. It has 2 logic boards, a camera component and partiall sealed keypad switch board.

The major water damage was to the radio telephone board that the LCD and keypad and camera plug into.

Here are shots of the process.

Brooks Anderson from here in Santa Rosa
called asking if would take apart his Motorola RAZR phone to reseat the connections, remove debris and clean the device because had a static quality likely caused by all the things that float in his coat pocket and found their way into it.

He brought it over in the late evening so I would have it overnight when he was less likely to be called.

I started that night and finished taking it all apart and cleaning it the next morning. Here are shots of the device open and filled with "pocket powder".

I returned it to him the next morning. The cleaning charge for the RAZR was $20.

Fixed - Total cost..$20.
