These are a few my recent iPod repair experiences.
John Medieros of Bakersfield CA
had a hard drive failure in his iPod. At first we discussed replacing his 60GB drive with an
"affordable" 30GB drive. When it got here, I had a 40GB drive which I thought would be more to
his liking so I installed it for the 30GB price. This doesn't happen all the time but when I can
make a difference I try.

Rudy Carrasco of Pasadena California
sent his iPod to me with a letter dated September 22nd which he didn't send until October 8th.
"I phoned you a number of weeks ago about my Video iPod.
About July 12 or so I dropped my black video iPod in bathwater (I was taking a bath in a hotel
bathtub). I immediately pulled it out and tried to play it. I actually got the power to come on
once or twice and then it went out for good.
Googling around I came accross your web site, ipodsickbay.com Awesome is all I can say!
I saw the note about increasing one's chances of recovery by sending it in as soon as possible.
I realize that over 3 months since the incident does not bode well for the recovery chance. But
I really hope you are able to do something with it, Frank. I received this iPod as a Father's Day
gift and it has sentimental value. So here goes. Here's my Video iPod. Thank you in advance for
all your efforts."
For Rudy I was able to get the iPod processed and working within a day. I had to replace the LCD
which cost him $33 and his battery which was $23 but for a total of $96 dollars even though it
had been 3 months I was able to get it working.
Fixed - Total cost $96.

Tamika Norman sent her ipod in from Laveen, Arizona
with a money order for $73 saying she needed her LCD replaced.
That wasn't exactly the whole truth.... she had shut her car door on it and actually severely
bent the extruded aluminum case that the logic board, battery and LCD all tightly slide into.
There was no way to extract or slide the internal assembly out replace the LCD. In fact I'm
fairly certain the logic board itself was cracked.
Tamika got a refund of $53 back on her $73 sent it because I couldn't make the repair.

Leigh Craine of Rancho Cordova
sent in her 60GB Video iPod. Her hold/Lock slide switch wasn't working properly. She relies on
it to maintain the battery life by leaving it in "Lock" so it won't activate and play accidentally
in her pocket or purse. She found if her iPod was turned off (completely blank) and the "Lock"
switch was turned on, the iPod would activate with pressure on any of the click wheel buttons for
approximately 2 seconds.
I replaced Leigh's headphone jack, hold/lock switch wire harness and it fixed the problem .
The part was $35 and the labor/return shipping was $40.
Fixed - Total cost $85.
