These are a few my recent iPod repair experiences.

Jack Derosa lives in Vallejo, California (about 70 miles from here)
He needed a pretty standard repair. He had already owned his 4th Gen Photo iPod for a few years and the Apple warranty had long run out. Jack and I discussed him using his 60GB Photo iPod as back-up and take off premise device. Many businesses certain important files needed to run the business. Most of these are text based and therfore rather small.. just 1 or 2 kilobytes. I had experience in building back-up systems as a mulit-node network administrator so we laid a concept to have the back-up files written to his iPod which he would take home each night so there was an off-premise disaster recovery file set.

After the discussion he realized the battery in his Photo wasn't working well and sent it in for replacement.I formatted the drive so it went back blank and the Photo ipod workes perfectly as a relatively large capacity disaster recovery back-up device. Total cost for new battery $16 plus the $40 labor/return shipping so for $56 for got a great portable back-up medium.

Fixed - Total cost ..$56 .

Tonya Robinson lives in Philadelphia, PA

She had broken the LCD on her video iPod and actually couldn't remember how it may have occurred but we discussed what she saw on the screen and it left no doubt she had a cracked LCD. There was a little hesitation in her voice as she comitted to send it in to me... her video iPod and money to someone she didn't really know. But Tonya is a woman of faith and it wasn't misplaced. Her ipod arrived a few days later at about 11am with the morning mail. I replaced her LCD and re-sent it back out to her the same day it arrived. She got it back 3 days later and the total time it was out of grasp was 6 days. The LCD was $33 and labor with return shipping was $40 so for $73 she got back a fully functional ipod with all the music she had it already These are shots before and after the LCD was replaced.

Fixed - Total cost $73.
