These are a few my recent iPod repair experiences.

Bridgete Hockney of Jacksonville Florida
was cleaning her fridge when she dropped it in a bucket of water- It was only in there seconds and was encased in a protective cover, but it was long enough to kill it. She sent it in and I was able to get it working again by processing the water and corrosion out and replacing the LCD. Since the iPod was nearly two years I advised her to consider replacing the battery since at best it only carry a 30% charge just because of its age, not the water) and she elected to replace it. In her case $40 labor plus $33 for LCD and for just $23 more replaced her rather depleted battery.

Fixed - Total cost..$96 .

Chris Kaminsky of Glenview Illinois
sent his iPod in with an interesting letter. "Dear Frank, I called a few weeks ago about my busted iPod. It is a 5th generation 30GB video iPod. About a month ago I noticed that my iPod was only playing music to one side of my headphones. To fix this problem I opened the iPod up, and fiddled with the box that holds the headphone jack internally until sound came out of both sides. This worked (it actually played the left side to both the left and right side rather than real stereo) for about a week, then something inside must have moved and now all I can listen to is noise. Now I need your help. Enclosed is the $75 check. I hope you can resolve the problem" I repaired it that afternoon and shipped it back the next day. I replaced the headphone wire harness and put right a couple of other problems that develop when 'civilians' do their own "repairs".

Fixed - Total cost $75 to get his iPod like new.

Cathy McKeon called from Ukiah California (about 40 miles from here)
She has a 3rd Generation Ipod that is long out of warranty but still very healthy and needed a relatively simple repair. She sent it in for a new battery which should give her 2 or 3 mores years of use from iPod. Notice her 4700 songs were still on it when it was sent back? The battery was $17 and the labor/return shipping was $40

Fixed - Total cost..$57.
