These are a few my recent iPod repair experiences.

Erich Seabrook lives in Santa Rosa
about a block from the Junior High School I went to. He called to discuss his non-working 4th Generation iPod. It wasn't exactly clear what the problem was, he hadn't used it recently enough to remember what error if any it displayed. He brought it over and I was able to determine he had a mechanical failure of the hard drive but every other part of his iPod was pristine. I had one 20GB drive that worked well enough for me to recommend it to him. I set the price at $30 for the drive so the repair cost would be below the market value of the fixed iPod. He paid $30 for the drive and $40 labor.

Fixed - Total cost..$70 .

Larry Holmes sent his Video iPod in from Pleasant Hill California
He cracked his LCD screen and needed it replaced. A standard repair here. I replaced it and it was shipped back the next day. The LCD was $33 and the labor/return shipping was $40.

Fixed - Total cost $73.

Mike Connor (are you hearing the Mannix theme song?) of Davis, California
called me on Saturday... that's right I'll answer the phone if I'm anywhere near it and I usually am. He was able to hear from just one side of the earbuds, there was small defect in the back plate of his Video iPod case. And most important, he had aquired his music by "grazing" on "friendly computers". If you set your iPod to "manage Music manually" you can actually copy all of their music onto your iPod. All of those grazed songs will stay on the iPod for you to use until run a "Restore" or a "Sync" then iTunes will erase them all by writing "your iTunes" Library over it. Mike needed me to perform a data exraction so all the "grazed songs" could added to his own iTunes Library permanently. I fixed the headphone problem and then ran the data extraction. I sent it back with exact instructions on how to add them back to his own iTunes Library permanently. It cost him $35 for the headphone part and $40 labor/return shipping.

Fixed - Total cost..$75.
