These are a few my recent iPod repair experiences.
Scout lives in Saint Helena (27 miles
away) His was a more
complex assignment. Scout had a Video ipod that needed the screen
replaced. He also had another Video iPod and two 4th Gen iPods that he
wanted the music extracted from. These were alll mac formatted. One of the
4th gens was 40GB model that had been *packed* with songs. when you load
the hard drive in a 4th gen iPod to more than 95% you will have a device
that plays music but you are unable to extract the data from it. The other
othere 4th Gen i was able to extract the music from, and I replaced the
battery in it. The second Video model I was able to extract the files for
him and considering the scope of the project did it at no charge.Three data backups/extractions, a video LCD replacement
and a separate battery replacement.. all Fixed - Total cost..$132.
Bob S lives in Livermore (150 miles
away)
The
faceplate on his Video was scratched and his decided that an acetone based
solvent would liquify the surface and make it smooth again. The problem is
the liquid can never be applied evenly so different areas of the screen
began to liquify at different rates. It looked like someone had used acid
on the scrren to etch the surface by the time he was finished. Bob wanted
the faceplate replaced so the iPod could used by his father while his
father was in the hospital. Fixed - Total cost..$59.
