These are a few my recent iPod repair experiences.
Rachael Winkler sent her iPod along with a check for $40 from Pleasant Hill California.
It's a 4th Generation Black and White model with the famous Toshiba 20GB drive.
I have a decent range of tools to correct problems like these. She was fearful that the drive had failed permanently. I was able to get the data corruption corrected and the drive working again.
Fixed - Total cost..$40.

Alex Thieu sent his iPod in from San Francisco.
by email saying
"My son left his ipod video out in the rain for 2 days, he doesn't even know that he did. We haven't told him because his Grandmother gave it to him and past away last Thanksgiving so we don't want to upset him if there's a chance it can be repaired. He has Tourettes Syndrome and the stress of it being ruined might be too much for him to bear.
He had dropped it and it
stopped working. It wasn't clear if the drive had been killed or the logic
board.
Alex is also kind of... a perfectionist. The case.. the faceplate and chrome backplate had minor wear but if he was going fix any part of the iPod he wanted to restore it's cosmetic appearance at the same time.
He sent it in along with a check for $65 which was $25 for a new front and back and $40 labor.
Once it got here I was able to determine the drive was fine and the problem was the logic board.
I sent a PayPal request for funds for $90 which he covered and I got the cosmetically perfect and repaired iPod sent back out so he would get the next day again.
Alex mentioned that he didn't have a copy of the all the songs on his system so I ran a data extraction on his iPod and pulled down all the songs, photos and videos he had on it. Then I formatted the drive and put a copy of the songs and videos on the iPod using it as an external hard drive. The folder os songs and videos was labeled add_to_library I put a separate directory on it called add_to_library_photos with a shots of he and his friends.
When you look at the photo below, notice that it's formatted to 55.7 GB of space but only 37.8GB is
available even there are no "songs or videos" on it. That difference represents the directories on the
drive that contain those "ad_to_library" files.
Fixed - Total cost..$65.

Tammy Trujillo sent in two iPods from Rio Vista California.
This is the
second time she had me help her with her iPod problems.
She sent in a 2nd Generation Nano that belongs to Mark ( I think her
husband) which had been sent through the washing machine. Water cases I'm
fairly good at so I applied my time tested methods to bring it back to
life.
I was able to get it working flawlessly.... and all the music files were preserved.
Total cost for that one was a well spent $40
Fixed - Total cost..$40.
